The International Federation of Audit Bureaux of Certification (IFABC) has announced the election of its President and Secretary at the 31st IFABC General Assembly held in Bucharest, Romania in October 2024.
This biennial event brings together IFABC members from around the world to meet and share ideas, news and developments in media auditing and digital advertising assurance.
Presentations covered a wide range of topics, including initiatives such as trust.txt and the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI), the IAB EU’s work in sustainability and retail media, FIPP’s report on global trends in magazines, developments in audit approaches, and new EU legislation including the European Media Freedom Act.
A key part of the General Assembly is the election of the Board and its President to steer the group into the future.
Simon Redlich, CEO OF ABC UK, stepped down having served as IFABC President for four years; as did Tom Drouillard of the Alliance for Audited Media who had served three terms as Honorary Secretary.
The members then elected Manuel Sala of OJD, Spain, as IFABC’s new President for the 2024-26 term. Sala commented, "Given the rapid pace of technological change, the advertising industry arguably needs accurate and trustworthy information now more than ever. Media auditors play a critical role in delivering this. I look forward to setting the agenda and working with my fellow members to advance media measurement standards worldwide."
Alexandra Beier-Cizek, Managing Director at OEAK, Austria, was elected as IFABC Secretary. She said,
"The IFABC is an important forum that enables countries across the globe to share insights and best practices. This collaboration is fundamental to building trust and transparency in media measurement, whilst delivering the accountability needed to drive progress in our industry."
Hormuzd Masani, Secretary General of ABC India, was re-elected as the group’s Honorary Treasurer.
